What is the process of taking the HIV rapidtest?
Rapid tests for HIV and syphilis are done in 3 easy steps:
- Firstly, disinfect a finger.
- A finger prick blood sample is then taken.
- The rapid test detects antibodies for HIV or syphilis in just 20 minutes. If the result is positive, the patient is then sent to their general practicioner or other specialist for a repeat test and for futher investigation. In the Checkpoint website you can find a map of supportive doctors.
All tests are free of charge and anonymous so there is no need to take ID.
